The Afghan Government and the Australian company signed 5 MoUs||
The Afghan Government and the Australian company, Fortescue Future Industries, signed five memorundum of understandings with ministries of Public Health, Higher Education, Mines and Petroleum, Afghanistan National Water Affairs Regulation Authority, and Afghan Red Crescent Society.
 
The signing ceremony was held in Kabul and inaugrated by HE President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani's speech. ‘What is at stake is a completely new model of transformation’, the President addressed in his remarks. 
 
The company’s Chairman, Dr Andrew Forrest, remarked that ‘we hope wherever and whenever we can, Fortescue and Minderoo will help you lead a country where we dramatically increase the survival for cancer, increase the wisdom of your academic research leaders and ensure equality of women.’ The Afghan Government has also invited the Australian company to invest in mineral exploration and the development of mining in Afghanistan.
 
First Vice-President Amrullah Saleh at the MoU signing ceremoney between the Afghan Goverment and the Australian company expressed his appreciation to the Australian delegation and described the event as historical and a turning point in the mutual friendship between Afghanistan and Australia.
 
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani concluded his remarks and said: “We began our relationship with Australia with our cameleers who crossed the dessert, now the proud Australians are here to cross our mountain and rivers with us and create history together.”
