Third Afghan-Australian Business Council Conference
Melbourne, Australia — The 3rd Afghan–Australian Business Council Conference took place in late April 2017, bringing together high-level government representatives, policymakers, and leading entrepreneurs from both nations to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
The conference was attended by H.E. Wahidullah Waissi, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Australia; Mr. Ajmal Ahmadi, Economic Advisor to the President, who travelled from Afghanistan for the event; Mr. Yama Yari, Director General of Procurement; and Mr. Jawid Omar, Advisor to the Ministry of Finance. Representatives from the Australian Parliament and Government, along with prominent business leaders from Afghanistan and Australia, also participated.
Held over two days, the conference focused on key areas of cooperation including water management, agriculture, banking and financial services, carpets, management, and enhanced private and public sector engagement. The discussions emphasized long-term collaboration and opportunities for investment and development between both countries.
